Literally happened to me last night as I was researching how to solder an aux cord to the amp on my volvo. Luckily the thread was from ‘09, and I guess FM modulators weren’t affordable then, because I found out I can get one for $20 and not have to mess with that nonsense at all.

The Movie? Oh yeah, I hated it to.

Yup. I end up hoping that someone did a YouTube video.

Friends don’t let friends use FM modulators when a hardwired solution exists.

The dreaded Photobucketometer. I recently had an encounter with it that mad me so mad that I hunted down a browser extension to unlock the images, just so that I could repost them in that same thread.

Is it possible to learn this kind of power?

There are a few out there, but this is the first one that actually worked for me. I leave it turned off most of the time, though. I have enough extensions running as it is...

An FM modulater is the hardwire alternative to a transmitter. On principle, it does the same thing, it’s just hard wired instead of transmitting over the air.
The problem with the Volvo is that it uses fiber optic cables for the audio system, so you can’t just replace the head unit.
On older models, there was an external amp you could solder an aux cable to, but I have a newer model that the amp is built into the head unit. Besides the modulator, the only solution to hardwire to the head unit, was to build an entire new circuit on a external PCB and plug that in. But the pictures for the circuit is no longer there.

I misread your post and was thinking those FM transmitters. Good luck with what you do. I ended up with a sorta simple but extremely cheap solution to an AUX for my XC90. The radio unit and antenna array is in the roof by the rear hatch connected to the head unit via fiber. I soldered an audio cable to the AM side of the circuit board and ran a cable through the roof to the glove box. This would have been impossible if not for proper photo hosting.
